The Something Monologues

TSM142 : The Joy of the Present Moment

Today's walky talky, starts with the joy of sheep ! Using their inspiration, I explore how we can systematically and holistically experience the joy of the presence moment !

TSM139 : The Importance of Human Drama

All spiritual traditons emphasize the importance of freeing ourselves from drama because drama causes suffering. I beg to differ. Drama helps us to grow and suffering is OK. In today's walky, I explore the importance of human drama and how drama reshapes our entire identity and experience of being human.

TSM137 : Entanglement, Human Identity, Aspects of Self, Channeling and Spiritual Development

How do we know what we know ? Part of how we know is by knowing what we are. In today's walk and wonder, I explore the idea that we can know things beyond ourselves because we are more than we think we are. Not everything appears to follow causality (cause and effect), as entanglement and spooky action at a distance would suggest. Or is causality always present - visible from many different perpectives ? When we embrace a wider perspective about what we are (through such ideas as Aspects of Self and Channeling and by deepening the well of experience), we can know much more than we would normally think is possible. What is in the way of such knowledge and experience, is our ignorance and our desire to remain comfortable in our identities.

Enjoy ! ;-)

TSM134 : Deepening the Well of Experience

In previous monologues I've suggested that real spiritual development has nothing to do developing super powers or transcending the body and everything to do cultivating awareness of mind and body and living fully within the body. In today's walk and talk, I explore some of the same ground I explored in TSM 108 - suggesting how we might move through our senses deep into the body and integrate all that arises into our awareness and in so doing, deepen the well of experience.

For those who are interested in learning ET contact, might I suggest you begin by learning how to deepen the well of experience. Begin with the body and the body will grow !

TSM128 : Direct Knowing

I dedicate this monoluge to Frédéric for his ongoing support and his enthusiasm for taking responsibility for his own development and for his efforts to be a better father, partner and human being ! I also dedicate this monologue to Astrid for her ongoing kindness and her continuous efforts (despite her own illness) to help others living and dead, to be free of their suffering !

In today's stroll through the land, I explore the process that some have called Direct Knowing. There are several interpretations of this concept and in this monologue I explore what you might think of as a lower level form of DK, that I believe has greater value to us in our ordinary life. I provide you with working examples of how to develop DK through all the senses and then through the collective 5 senses.

Expect to hear lots of talkative sheep !

TSM127 : An Introduction to the Buddha’s Teachings and Why They Are No Longer as Important to Me

In today's walk in the big paddock, I introduce the core ideas behind the mystical Buddha's teachings and talk a little about how my ET friend Dude changed my view of Buddhism and my own efforts to eliminate desire from my life.

Don't be offended if you are a Buddhist. This monologue is an effort to simply Buddhism and make it easy to understand. It isn't a critical treatise on significant doctrines but a gentle overview of what the Buddha may have been trying to get at.

TSM126 : Stream of Consciousness

Listen to this only if you are bored of your own stream of consciousness !

In this wafflathon I hint at how stream of consciousness works and how we might use it for creativity, exploring current or future issues in our life or in the life of the world.

Think of this as a primer in cultivating a lack of awareness !

TSM121 : The Agony of the Human Condition - Part 3B : Recognizing and Honouring the Needs of the Daimon

I dedicate this monoluge to Frédéric for his ongoing support and to Mauren for her recent donation and for being a long time reader/listener ! Thank you both very much for reaching out to me and for making a difference and for showing your appreciation for what I have to share !

In today's monologue I pick up from where I left in TSM114, exploring the Daimon and how we can recognize and honour the needs of the Daimon for a healthy and fulfilled life. After listening to this recording, I realised that I didn't say enough about how to recognise the needs of the Daimon - so I might take that issue up in a future monologue. I might add as well, that I wonder if the Daimon has different needs at different times in the human life cycle.

For those of you who question whether or not a Daimon really exists as a distinct entity or aspect within us, I think that's a reasonable thing to have some doubt about. My thoughts are that as an alternative to the traditional view of the Daimon, we consider that the Daimon is as a driving force, a set of urges that arises from the way different processes that arise from the interaction of mind and body. Think of it as a unique force of it's own, that emerges from the interaction of mind and body. It may have a transcendant timless nature that exists beyond each individual life or be bound to each individual life. Perhps there are many possibilities. No one can prove or disprove the existance of the Daimon ! But each of us will know whether the idea resonates as true or false.

We might also consider that it's nothing more than an idea ! An idea with great power !

Enjoy !

TSM78 : Perfumery, permutations and combinations in the 5 senses and the material world

Tonight's monologue involves a short discussion about the subject of perfumery, as a result of a scene I wrote today in one of my novels; and an exploration of the idea that the perceptions that we have, which are informed by the 5 senses - arise from different permutations and combinations which occur in our sensory information. The same permutations and combinations fill the material world. I also wonder at how an increase in the number of senses might increase the permutations and combinations that fill our perception of the material world.

TSM77 : Opening awareness by connecting to the energy of trees and working with the senses

In this monologue I present two ways of opening awareness (as an alternative to expanding consciousness). The first involves connecting with the energy of trees and the second involves opening the 5 senses, by opening awareness one sense at a time.

These two practices create the possibility of opening awareness beyond your normal conscious awareness and provide you with two practices that will enhance your awareness of energy and strengthen your bodily energy.

TSM71 : Analytical Thinking and Learning to Feel Through Engagement

In this morning's monologue I talk a little about how we are conditioned by our traditional education to practice analytical thinking but we learn little about feeling - an awareness of our emotions or physical feelings. I suggest a couple of ways to change how you experience people and objects, through an awareness of the felt experience of the engagement.
